Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu on Friday, expressed his appreciation for Nigerian women and their pivotal role in the nation’s well-being and progress.
In a statement shared on his official X handle in commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024, President Tinubu recognised the indispensable contribution of women to the country’s development.
The statement partly reads:
“On this year’s International Women’s Day, I celebrate all Nigerian women. They are the pivot of our nation.
“Happy International Women’s Day.”
International Women’s Day is a global day dedicated to honouring and celebrating the historical achievements and contributions of women, while also advocating for gender equality.
The day, observed annually on March 8, serves as a global call to action for a more inclusive and equitable world.
President Tinubu’s celebration of women drew attention on social media, with Nigerians urging proactive measures in rescuing the 282 kidnapped school children in Kaduna on March 7.
Responding to the calls for action, the President assured the public in a subsequent tweet that security and intelligence agencies were diligently working to rescue the abducted individuals and bring the perpetrators to justice.
