A large number of voters turned up early to cast their ballots in Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West LGAs, as the ongoing Ondo State Governorship Election began at exactly 8:30 a.m.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials were stationed early at Iyometa Ward 1, Unit 1; Iyometa Ward 2, Unit 007; Ikado Ward 2, Unit 5 in Ikare-Akoko and also at Ugbe Akoko, Ward 3, Unit 2 as early as 8:30 am. The officials were seen attending to the electorate.
Speaking to newsmen, the Presiding Officer (PO) at Ikado Ward 1, Unit 001, Vincent Ugboma, mentioned that there was a little delay due to the malfunctioning of the BVAS, but it was sorted eventually.
He said that at 9 am, over 50 persons had been accredited and had voted in the unit, commending citizens for their large turnout.
“The electorate are much; there is need to divide the unit into two so that it could be managed effectively by the electoral officials,” he said.
In Ikado Ward 2, Unit 13, Mr. Felix Adedoja, the Presiding Officer, stated that the election had been proceeding smoothly without any issues. However, he mentioned that some voters displayed disrespectful and disorderly behaviour.
