The Federal Government of Nigeria has allocated N2.5 billion for the procurement and installation of passenger boarding bridges at Lagos airport as part of the proposed N49.74 trillion 2025 budget.
This allocation is part of the N105.95 billion earmarked for the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, with N93.03 billion designated for capital expenditures. The project, which is categorised as ongoing, is aimed at improving passenger convenience and operational efficiency at Nigeria’s busiest airport.
The passenger boarding bridges will allow for seamless boarding and disembarking of passengers directly from the terminal, bypassing the need for shuttle buses or walking on the tarmac. Their installation will streamline operations, particularly for international flights, and enhance safety standards.
In addition to the boarding bridges, the 2025 budget outlines several other key aviation infrastructure projects, including N500 million for upgrading instrument landing systems and N1.5 billion for enhancing Wi-Fi services at major airports. The overall focus is on modernising airport facilities across the country to improve the travel experience and safety standards.
