Afam Osigwe, the newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has officially taken office as the 32nd President of the association. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday in Lagos.
Osigwe, who succeeded Yakubu Maikyau in July 2023, secured the presidency after defeating two other candidates in a closely contested election. He was declared the winner by the Chairman of the NBA Electoral Committee, Oluseun Abimbola, having garnered 50.52% of the votes.
In his inaugural address, Osigwe pledged to uphold the NBA’s role as a vital force in Nigeria’s democratic landscape. He also expressed his gratitude to the members of the association for entrusting him with the leadership.
