Moussa Faki, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, was unexpectedly asked to leave a closed-door session at the EAC-SADC leaders’ summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday.
The sudden request, issued by the event’s Master of Ceremonies, caused unease among participants.

The summit, attended by regional leaders to address the worsening crisis in eastern DRC, took a surprising turn when Faki was directed to exit the meeting.
It remains unclear who authorised the decision, but he left without protest. His removal raised concerns about coordination between the African Union and regional blocs involved in the peace process.
Shortly after, organisers attempted to reverse the decision by inviting Faki back into the session. However, by then, he had already left, and the situation remained unresolved.
