Australia advanced cautiously on the third morning of the second Test against the West Indies, reaching 69 for three wickets in their second innings by lunch on Saturday.
With a 102-run overall lead and seven wickets remaining, the tourists are in a strong position, having won the first Test by 159 runs.
The West Indies secured their only wicket of the morning, which was interrupted by showers, when nightwatchman Nathan Lyon was caught for eight off Alzarri Joseph’s bowling. Lyon had successfully protected Steve Smith from batting late on Friday.

Green and Smith Build Crucial Partnership
Cameron Green, batting at number three, showed immense restraint to remain unbeaten on 31 runs off 84 balls at the interval. Steve Smith, who missed the first Test due to injury and was dismissed cheaply in the first innings, appeared to be settling in, resuming after lunch on 20 runs.
The West Indies bowlers maintained discipline but struggled to consistently trouble the Australian batsmen.
Both Green and Smith batted cautiously, with Smith’s only aggressive shots being two consecutive boundaries off Shamar Joseph, the bowler who famously took Smith’s wicket with his very first Test delivery 18 months prior.
