Boko Haram terrorists have killed 14 farmers and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) at different locations within Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The two CJTF members were reportedly killed in an ambush at Sabon-Gari, near Kirawa, whilst returning from a routine patrol in their vehicle on Friday.

Sources in Gwoza said the terrorists had laid an ambush for the volunteers and opened fire on them, killing two, while the driver managed to escape with injuries.

Meanwhile, the farmers were said to have been killed on Saturday while making their way to the fields.

According to the Emir of Gwoza, Mohammed Idris Timta, the farmers had strayed beyond the area approved for local farming and, unfortunately, encountered the terrorists.

He noted that the farmers had no security escort, as is required.

The Emir revealed that initially ten bodies were recovered, but an additional four were found on Sunday, bringing the total to fourteen.

He said the attack occurred in a community located directly under the Mandara Mountains, between Pulka and Ngoshe.
