Bournemouth striker Enes Unal has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during a routine training session, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.
The Turkish international, who joined Bournemouth from Getafe in July, has featured in all of the club’s matches since September, scoring two crucial goals in their record-breaking unbeaten run this season.
“We are devastated to confirm that Enes Unal has suffered a tear to his right ACL during training on Tuesday morning,” Bournemouth said in a statement. “He will undergo surgery in the coming days.”
The news comes as a further blow for Bournemouth, who only recently confirmed that fellow striker Evanilson had undergone surgery for a fractured metatarsal sustained in their 1-0 victory over Everton.
Unal, 27, has previously endured a lengthy layoff due to an ACL injury in 2023 and also missed part of the Euro 2024 build-up with a broken toe. Despite these setbacks, Bournemouth remain seventh in the Premier League, just three points off a top-four spot.
