Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has stepped down from his position with immediate effect.
Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, cited health reasons for his resignation, saying he needs time to focus on his personal well-being.
His tenure as APC Chairman, which began in August 2023, has been characterised by internal party disputes and mounting public scrutiny. Before assuming national office, Ganduje served two terms as Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023.

Although his resignation letter pointed to health concerns, insiders suggest that growing political tension within the APC may have influenced his decision. Allegations of financial impropriety and reported discontent over “excessive financial demands” from his office have also fuelled speculation.
Ganduje’s exit signals a pivotal moment for the APC, raising questions about the party’s internal stability ahead of critical political timelines.
The party is yet to release an official statement, and the search for his successor is expected to dominate discussions in the coming days.
This is a developing story…
