Mojisola Meranda has resigned as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, stepping down after 49 days in office.
Meranda assumed the role on January 13 following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa by lawmakers.
During her final plenary session on Monday, lawmakers showered her with praise for her leadership.
Following her resignation, Obasa was reinstated as Speaker.

Before the plenary, a closed-door meeting was held outside the chamber.
Our correspondent observed that the Chairman of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi, was present at the meeting, which took place within the Assembly complex and involved both Obasa and Meranda.
The meeting delayed the plenary session, originally scheduled for 1 PM, before the House was eventually reconvened.
Obasa’s reinstatement followed a meeting on Sunday night with key stakeholders and party leaders, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
