Federica Brignone increased her lead over Lara Gut-Behrami in the competition for the World Cup crystal globe on Saturday by winning the giant slalom in Are, Sweden.
With a cumulative time of 1 minute 52.67 seconds, the 34-year-old Italian was the fastest in both runs, easily defeating Alice Robinson of New Zealand by 1.36 seconds.
Albanian skier Lara Colturi finished third with a time of 1.43. Gut-Behrami, a Swiss star, finished ninth, 2.52 seconds behind the winner.
Last month, Brignone, who won the giant slalom world title in Saalbach, Austria, earned her seventh world cup.
In the overall rankings, the Italian, who won the big crystal globe in 2020, is 322 points ahead of Gut-Behrami.

On Sunday, the women’s slalom competition takes place in Are. A downhill and two super-Gs are planned for next weekend at La Thuile, Italy, where Brignone might win the overall title.
The season culminates with four races in the Sun Valley, Idaho, finals from March 20–27.
In addition, Brignone reduced Robinson’s lead to 20 points in the giant slalom rankings.
Skiing out early in the first run was American sensation Mikaela Shiffrin, who is recovering from an abdominal puncture but achieved a World Cup century of victories last month.
