Canada announced new tariffs on Wednesday targeting Can$29.8 billion ($20.7 billion) worth of US goods in retaliation for American levies on steel and aluminium.
Finance Minister Dominic Leblanc condemned the 25 per cent US tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump, calling them “completely unjustified, unfair, and unreasonable.”

In response, Canada will impose 25 per cent tariffs on a new list of US imports starting Thursday. These include Can$12.6 billion worth of steel products, Can$3 billion worth of aluminium, and other goods such as computers and sports equipment.
This latest round of tariffs follows an earlier Can$30 billion worth of duties imposed by Canada earlier this month, responding to the initial wave of US trade restrictions on Canadian exports.
