The British Military has provided essential Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) equipment to Nigerian forces in support of ongoing counterterrorism operations in Nigeria’s Northeast.

The equipment is part of a wider assistance initiative aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of Nigerian forces in their fight against insurgency and protecting civilian lives in the region.

This new assistance package includes advanced detection designed to mitigate the risks posed by IEDs, a prevalent threat in areas affected by terrorism and insurgency.

News Central’s Umaru Kirawa, reports that this partnership reflects the United Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to bolstering Nigeria’s security sector through strategic support and capacity-building.

The UK-Nigeria collaboration extends beyond equipment provision, involving training programmes to equip Nigerian personnel with essential skills for handling explosives safely and effectively.

The British government and Nigerian military officials expressed optimism that these contributions would significantly enhance Nigeria’s counter-IED capabilities and strengthen security in volatile areas.
