Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been appointed as the acting national chairman of the party, according to Channels TV.
His appointment comes following the resignation of former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down as party chairman on Thursday.
“His resignation, which is effective immediately, was offered to enable him attend to urgent and important personal matters,” APC spokesman Felix Morka said in a statement.
“In his letter of resignation addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, Ganduje expressed gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve the party at the highest level.”

According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, President Bola Tinubu directed Ali Bukar Dalori to step in as Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Dalori will hold the position until the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which is to be convened without delay, formally appoints a substantive chairman.
Abdullahi Ganduje, who hails from the North-West, took over as APC National Chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu from the North Central region. However, Ganduje’s time at the helm was marked by growing discontent within the party. Many members felt his appointment undermined the APC’s internal zoning arrangements, fuelling calls for change.
Ganduje previously served as governor of Kano State from May 2015 to May 2023. In January 2025, he was appointed by President Tinubu as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Reports have also linked him to a potential nomination as a non-career ambassador.
