The Nigerian nation prepares to bid a final farewell to a towering figure, the late elder statesman and revered business icon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata. His burial is scheduled to take place today in the holy city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
This solemn news was officially conveyed in a statement issued on Monday by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
Ahead of the burial ceremony, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. This message of sympathy was personally delivered by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, who traveled to Madinah to be with Dantata’s family in their moment of loss.
The statement read in part, “The demise of Baba Aminu deeply touches President Tinubu. He prays that Allah grants him Aljannah Firdaus and gives the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
A delegation of top Nigerian government officials, led by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, arrived in Madinah for the burial of the late elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata. The team included the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata.

The delegation departed Nigeria late Sunday and reached Madinah early Monday. They were received by Alhaji Mustapha Junaid and other members of the Dantata family, including the deceased’s wives, children, and grandchildren. The family expressed profound gratitude for the Federal Government’s condolence visit.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94. In accordance with his wishes, he is scheduled to be laid to rest in the holy city of Madinah today, Tuesday.
Also present as part of the delegation were prominent Islamic clerics: Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, who serves as the Imam of the Dantata Mosque in Abuja. These clerics offered prayers for the repose of the late patriarch.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Ibrahim Moddibbo; Consul General, Ambassador Muazam Ibrahim Nayaya; and the Defence Attaché, Major General Adamu Hassan, were also in attendance for the solemn occasion.
