Borussia Dortmund secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over struggling Heidenheim in their final match before the appointment of Niko Kovac as head coach following the dismissal of Nuri Sahin.
The Black and Yellows took the lead in the 33rd minute when Serhou Guirassy capitalised on a loose ball in the box after a Julian Ryerson corner was poorly cleared. Waldemar Anton mishit a shot, which was pounced on by Guirassy, who netted his fifth goal in four matches, continuing his fine form after scoring a double against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Heidenheim, who had failed to win in their last 14 league games and were in the relegation play-off position, struggled to find a response.

However, Dortmund doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute, as Ramy Bensebaini delivered a perfect low cross for Max Beier, who calmly slotted the ball into the far corner to make it 2-0.
But Dortmund quickly let their guard down after the restart. Just 18 seconds later, Frans Kraetzig found Mathias Honsak, who finished first-time to pull one back for Heidenheim.
Despite the setback, Dortmund held firm, weathering late pressure to claim a vital win, snapping a four-game winless streak and securing their first Bundesliga victory since December 22.
