Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down as the interim manager of the Super Eagles, according to reports from the Glass House.

Eguavoen stated that his responsibility was limited to two matches, which he has now fulfilled.

“I have been given a mandate to handle two games. I am very pleased with the boys, and thanks to the NFF. It ends today – the two games mandate.” He said.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed the technical director as the temporary coach after the organisation’s unsuccessful attempts to secure a permanent head coach for the national team.

During his short time in charge, Eguavoen guided the Super Eagles in two crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

While the Nigerian senior men’s team triumphed over Benin Republic with a score of 3-0, they played to a goalless draw with Rwanda on Tuesday.
