As Nigeria prepares to take on Zimbabwe in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier today, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has called for total concentration from his players, emphasising the importance of securing maximum points.

Coming off a hard-fought result in Rwanda, where Nigeria battled difficult conditions to earn a positive result, Chelle expressed pride in his team’s resilience but stressed that the focus must now shift to today’s encounter.

“We need to be focused on this second game. It is the most important now. I am proud of what my players did in Rwanda. It was very difficult, but they did the job,” Chelle stated.

With Zimbabwe proving to be a well-organised side under a tactically astute coach, Chelle acknowledged the threat posed by the Warriors but remains confident in his squad’s preparation.

“We have done our training sessions, and we have to face the game because it is not going to be easy. Zimbabwe have a good team with good players and a good coach that has a good game project. So we need to be focused and do the job,” he added.

Nigeria will be aiming to build momentum in their qualification campaign, and a victory today will put them in a strong position in their group. With Chelle’s call for focus ringing in their ears, the Super Eagles will be looking to deliver on the pitch.

The match match is billed for 5pm Nigeria time.
