France, Germany, and Spain’s foreign ministers emphasised on Wednesday that Kyiv and its European allies must be involved in any peace agreement in Ukraine.
At a Paris meeting of foreign ministers, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated, “There will be no just and lasting peace in Ukraine without the participation of Europeans.” His Spanish and German colleagues also stated that no choices could be made without Ukraine’s input.
The ministers’ remarks came soon after Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump decided to begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.

Spain’s Jose Manuel Albares Bueno and Germany’s Annalena Baerbock informed the meeting that no decision on Ukraine could be reached “without Ukraine” and urged the EU to be united on the issue.
“We want peace for Ukraine, but we want an unjust war to end with a just peace,” Albares Bueno remarked.
Meanwhile, Radosław Sikorski, the foreign minister of Poland, stated that the meeting’s agenda included “continued cooperation with the US.”
“There is no better guarantee for the security of our continent than close transatlantic cooperation,” Sikorski said.
