Fuel Queues to Improve as Lagos Depots Restart Operation

The long queues for fuel in various states across Nigeria are expected to reduce soon as reports say fuel loading at Lagos depots is set to resume.

There has been a shortage of petrol supply in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, parts of Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, and other states due to the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association, IPMAN, has blamed the problem of fuel supply shortage on restrictions of truck movements caused by the protests.

However, a source at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the Lagos Depots have restarted loading, so the queues are expected to dissipate soon.

Recall that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) clarified that the fuel supply and distribution challenges were due to difficulties in the unloading process of a few ships.

Olufemi Soneye, the NNPC Chief Corporate Communications Officer, mentioned that the company was “working tirelessly with all involved parties to address the issue and return operations to normal.”
