As July’s first pricing window opens, drivers are seeing a mixed bag at Ghana’s fuel pumps. While the price of petrol has nudged down slightly, diesel has unfortunately become a bit more expensive.
GOIL, a leading player in the market, has brought down the price of a litre of petrol from GH₵12.38 to GH₵12.07. However, they’re now selling diesel at GH₵13.20, up from its previous GH₵12.88.
Shell has also made adjustments, increasing the price of a litre of petrol to GH₵12.08 from GH₵11.98. Their diesel has seen a more significant jump, going from GH₵12.85 to GH₵13.25 per litre. Meanwhile, PETROSOL is offering petrol at GH₵11.98 per litre, with diesel priced at GH₵13.98 per litre.

Initially, industry experts had predicted an overall increase in pump prices, driven by rising global oil costs. However, a silver lining emerged as oil prices began to trend downwards on the global market, thanks to easing tensions in the Middle East.
Looking ahead, it’s anticipated that the next pricing window will likely see a price hike, primarily due to the upcoming implementation of the GH₵1 Energy Sector Levy.
