Governor Fubara Denies Sponsoring Protesters to Vandalise APC Billboard

The Rivers State Government has rejected the All Progressives Congress (APC) claims that it orchestrated a protest to vandalise a billboard at the party’s state office in Port Harcourt on Monday.

In an interview with Channels Television, Rivers State Commissioner for Information Joe Johnson dismissed the allegations made by APC Caretaker Committee Chairman Tony Okocha during a Tuesday press briefing. Johnson described the accusations as unfounded.

He emphasized that the Governor Siminalayi Fubara-led administration is focused on state management and has no interest in such actions. Johnson noted that Governor Fubara’s engagement with protesters on the first day of the demonstration helped ease tensions in the state.

Johnson criticized the Tony Okocha-led APC Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, labeling it as factional and driven by personal ambition. He suggested that Okocha and his supporters are frustrated because their attempts to use mercenaries to disrupt the state’s peace have failed.

The commissioner asserted that destructive actions are not characteristic of Governor Fubara or his administration. He implied that the APC’s allegations are a desperate response from a dwindling faction.
