Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kwara State, was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Saturday evening.
According to MACBAN’s spokesperson, Sakaina was returning home around 10 PM when the attackers ambushed him at the entrance of his residence.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident and reported that they had recovered five expended 7.62mm shells from the scene.
The police have assured the public that a full investigation is underway and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
Sakaina’s body was taken to the UITH Mortuary, and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has started their inquiry into the murder.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association has expressed shock over the killing and called on security agencies to track down the assailants.
The organisation also appealed to the state government for assistance to support the deceased’s family, particularly in the provision of education and welfare for his children.
The murder of Sakaina is believed to be linked to MACBAN’s active role in providing security support to local police and hunters, which has led to the rescue of several kidnapping victims and thwarted terrorist activities in the region.
