The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched an initiative to oversee the execution of constituency projects worth N21 billion across Kaduna State.

The effort is aimed at ensuring public funds are spent appropriately and projects are delivered as promised.

During a press briefing in Kaduna, Chief Superintendent Haruna Aminu, who represented the Constituency and Executive Tracking Department under the ICPC chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, revealed that 60 projects are currently being monitored across the state.

“We are here to track about 60 projects across Kaduna State with a total value of N21 billion,” Aminu explained.

“We started on Wednesday with the Kafanchan axis, where we tracked at least 21 projects. Now we are in Kaduna main town, Kabala area, focusing on projects such as solar-powered street lights across the town,” he added.

Aminu noted some progress on the solar-powered streetlight project but pointed out shortcomings.

” Generally, on the solar project, we have seen a level of execution and then from the other angle, we were able to discover some hinges especially on the project. This is a project that touches people’s lives,” he said.

The ICPC is determined to hold contractors accountable, ensuring they complete projects they have been paid to deliver.

He stressed that delays in some projects, including the streetlights, have reduced their potential benefits.

“These projects are vital to improving livelihoods in Kaduna State. If completed last year as planned, they would have made a significant difference by now,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, Aminu stated that the commission would take firm action against contractors neglecting their duties, as part of a broader commitment to ensuring communities benefit from government initiatives.
