The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has reported that insecurity, flooding, and inaccessible roads are severely hindering children in Sudan from accessing critical health services.
The organisation shared photos of undernourished infants being examined in a UNICEF-supported health centre, highlighting the dire health crisis caused by the ongoing conflict.
Calls from the international community and the UN are growing, urging an end to the war in Sudan to prevent further humanitarian disaster.
The violence, which erupted in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has left over 20,000 people dead, displaced millions, and triggered severe food shortages, pushing the country closer to famine.
