According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club advocacy group, Israel would release 602 convicts on Saturday as part of a hostage swap with Hamas under an ongoing Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Among those released are 445 people from Gaza who were arrested following Hamas’ October 7 attack that sparked the war, 60 serving long sentences, 50 serving life sentences, and 47 re-arrested after being freed in a 2011 prisoner exchange, stated Amani Sarahneh, spokeswoman for the NGO.
Sarahneh added that 108 of the detainees set to be released on Saturday would be deported outside of Israel and the Palestinian territories.
