Iyanu: Child of Wonder, the graphic novel by Nigerian creator Roye Okupe and illustrator Godwin Akpan is taking a new face.
A 2D adaptation of the 2017 novel has been green-lit by HBO Max alongside Cartoon Network and Lion Forge Animation.
While the graphic novel is set in the magical version of Yorubaland, the series will follow a teenage girl who must uncover the mystery behind her newfound superpowers to save her people from an ancestral curse threatening to destroy mankind.
Directed by two-time Emmy winner, Saxton Moore, the Nigerian animated superhero series will also parade Nigeria’s rich culture, music, and mythology.
