A devastating fire swept through the ISS Camp in Ngala, Borno State at approximately 3:40 PM on Thursday, leaving hundreds of families in distress.

A joint assessment by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), BOAID, GISCOR, and community leaders confirmed that seven communities were affected, including Antulske (1) and (2), Mainari, Ndufune (1) and (2), Saleri, and Suwa.

News Central’s Umaru Kirawa reports that 156 households suffered complete losses, with 242 others indirectly affected—bringing the total number of impacted households to 398, representing 2,189 individuals. Lost items include food, clothing, non-food items (NFIs), mats, and personal belongings.

Two victims have reportedly lost their CBT cards. They are encouraged to approach the CCCM Help Desk or the GISCOR Protection Desk for support.

Currently, many of the affected persons are traumatised and emotionally distressed. In response, CCCM and Protection Teams have urged voluntary relocation to school premises within the camp for safety and comfort. A joint sensitisation exercise on the incident’s impact and fire risk reduction is scheduled for Monday.

Authorities and partners are calling for urgent humanitarian assistance.
