The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has overseen the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
Governor Sani said that this agreement formalises a strategic collaboration focused on enhancing the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the state while tackling issues like poverty, unemployment, and insecurity.
At the event, SMEDAN’s Director General, Charles Odii, praised Governor Uba Sani’s dedication to peace, infrastructure, and human capital development. He also noted Kaduna’s leading role in supporting SMEs, acknowledging it as the top-performing state in this sector and the first to embrace such a visionary initiative.

The collaboration is based on a ₦1 billion Matching Fund Program, with both entities contributing ₦500 million each.
Since the beginning of Governor Sani’s tenure, the number of MSMEs in Kaduna has surged from less than 20,000 to more than 180,000, illustrating the administration’s commitment to financial inclusion, job creation, and economic empowerment.
