The Kano State House of Assembly, situated in north-west Nigeria, has officially acknowledged the receipt of a proposal from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the establishment of fresh ministries within the state.
Speaker Jibrin Ismail Falgore announced that the communication arrived in the form of a letter from Governor Yusuf, apprising the Assembly of his government’s intent to introduce new ministries aimed at bolstering efficiency and effectiveness across the state.
Falgore proceeded to articulate the contents of the letter to the Assembly members, highlighting the Governor’s stress on the envisioned ministries’ key role in advancing socio-economic endeavours, fostering good governance, and positioning the state for enduring progress.
Among the proposed ministries are those dedicated to Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Harnessing Solid Mineral Resources, Power and Renewable Energy, Internal Security, and Special Services.
Furthermore, Governor Yusuf forwarded an additional correspondence to Speaker Falgore, urging the screening and appointment of four commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
The nominees include Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Alhaji Abdul-Jabbar Umar Garko, Hon. Shehu Usman Aliyu Karaye, and Alhaji Mustapha Rabi’u Musa, the offspring of former Governor Kwankwaso.
As stated in a press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the vetting of the nominees is slated for April 2, 2024.
