The Kano State government has announced that Monday will be a public holiday to sympathise with the families of the athletes who lost their lives while returning from the National Sports Festival (NSF).

Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the media spokesperson for Governor Abba Yusuf, shared this information in a statement released on Sunday.

On Saturday, a tragic accident claimed the lives of 22 athletes who were representing Kano at the recently concluded NSF after the bus they were travelling in was involved in a crash.
