Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has called on the Nigerian Army to deploy additional troops to bolster security in key areas of the state.
The governor requested a courtesy visit by Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Fansar-Yaman, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris emphasised that reinforcing the military presence would complement the efforts of security operatives already working in the state.
He commended the prompt response of the Birnin Kebbi Battalion, attributing a 90% reduction in crime rates to the close collaboration between the Army and other security agencies.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, the governor pledged continued cooperation with the Nigerian Army to combat crime and criminal activities in Kebbi.
In response, Major General Ajose expressed appreciation for the governor’s unwavering support and vowed to intensify operations against the Lakurawa sect.
During his visit, he assessed the performance of army units in Arugungu, Arewa, and Zuru Barrack.
He also sought the state government’s assistance in renovating the Army children’s school in Zuru, providing medical personnel in military camps, and supplying vehicles to improve operational effectiveness.
