Following a verbal altercation between Kenya Airways staff and a Nigerian passenger, identified as Omisore, the passenger has now safely arrived in Lagos, Nigeria.
Omisore’s return came after she boarded a Kenya Airways flight, following an incident in Nairobi that was captured in a viral video, sparking widespread condemnation.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Kenya Airways’ acting station manager over the matter.
The video, shared by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser to Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, showed Omisore expressing frustration over the alleged mistreatment of herself and other Nigerians by the airline’s staff.

The incident reportedly took place in Nairobi, where Omisore was preparing for a connecting flight.
“Our attention has been drawn to several cases of inhumane treatment of Nigerian passengers in Nairobi by @KenyaAirways,” Moshood said.
He claimed that Omisore, who flew from Manchester to Lagos, was denied boarding in Nairobi on the second leg of her journey, despite being on the same ticket.
However, Kenya Airways responded via X, stating that Omisore was denied boarding because she lacked a Schengen visa for France, a requirement for entry into the European Union.
The airline claimed it offered her an alternative route from London to Manchester, which she declined, leading to a verbal altercation.
“We strongly condemn such conduct. While we remain committed to delivering exceptional service, we expect all interactions to be based on mutual respect,” the airline stated.
Kenya Airways further alleged that Omisore engaged in inappropriate behaviour, including throwing used sanitary pads at staff. The airline also clarified that it does not provide accommodation in cases of visa-related issues.
The incident has been reported to security agencies and is under investigation, according to the airline.
History of Mistreatment Alleged
The NCAA accused Kenya Airways of a history of mistreating Nigerians, including NCAA staff.
NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, stated that Kenya Airways’ acting station manager in Lagos has been summoned to a meeting to address concerns over the incident.
He also demanded CCTV footage to support the airline’s claim that Omisore threw sanitary pads at staff rather than placing them on a table when asked for evidence that she was bleeding.
“Unruly behaviour is inexcusable at any airport and can result in blacklisting or fines. However, there was no basis for attempting to delete her video,” Achimugu said.
He further questioned why Kenya Airways issued Omisore a boarding pass in Lagos if she was not eligible to travel due to visa requirements.
Though the NCAA meeting was initially scheduled for 1 pm, Kenya Airways requested a 24-hour extension to provide further details.
