Kenya will receive 880,000 doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine from the U.S. government on Monday.
The Ministry of Health disclosed that the vaccines are expected in the country on Monday and will be received by Mathua Kagwe and the U.S. ambassador to Kenya.
This is part of the 1.7 million doses of Moderna vaccines expected to arrive in Kenya next week. Kenya will also receive at least 390,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson in the coming week.
By August 21, Kenya had received 2,730,100 AstraZeneca vaccines.
The ministry said out of the number of vaccines received 2,374,197 vaccinations have been given. From this data, 1,595,335 Kenyans have received the first dose while 778,862 have got vaccinated for the second dose.
So far Kenya has vaccinated 2.9 percent of the adult population against the disease.
Two days ago, the total confirmed positive cases were at 228,363 and cumulative tests so far conducted stood at 2,305,988.
