The Lagos Red Line train service is set to increase its frequency to nine trips per day starting Monday, February 10, 2025, offering five morning and four evening trips between Agbado in Ogun State and Oyingbo in Lagos.
The announcement was made via the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) on Saturday. The expanded schedule aims to provide more commuting options for residents along the Agbado-Oyingbo corridor, improving connectivity and reducing reliance on road transportation.
Previously, the Red Line offered only two-morning trips from Agbado to Oyingbo. With the updated schedule, the Red Line will operate five morning and four evening trips daily, totalling nine trips. The morning schedule will begin with trains departing from Oyingbo at 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., while northbound trains from Agbado will start at 6:30 a.m., with additional trips at 7:10 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.

In the evening, the first southbound train will depart Oyingbo at 5:20 p.m., with a second trip at 6:40 p.m. From Agbado, the evening trains will depart at 6:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.
LAMATA also emphasized that the total journey time from Agbado to Oyingbo remains 50 minutes, with a reduced waiting time of just two minutes at each station. The Red Line’s capacity will improve further with the arrival of three additional train sets in the coming months.
The expanded service reflects the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation infrastructure and ease congestion on the city’s roads.
