Zimbabwean activist and President of the Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD), Linda Tsungirirai Masarira, has publicly declared unwavering support for Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of Burkina Faso. Masarira praised Traoré’s courageous leadership in challenging imperialist powers and dismantling neocolonial structures that continue to obstruct Africa’s full liberation.
In a press statement obtained by News Central, Masarira stated:
“Captain Traoré has emerged as a revolutionary beacon in West Afrika embodying the spirit of the great Pan-Afrikanist, Thomas Sankara, and reclaiming control over his nation’s destiny in the face of immense foreign pressure. His bold actions are not just for Burkina Faso but for every oppressed nation across the Global South fighting to reclaim their sovereignty from the grip of former colonisers and their agents.”

She affirmed LEAD’s alignment with Traoré’s vision and actions, stressing the movement’s commitment to Pan-African ideals:
“LEAD, a Pan-Afrikan political movement grounded in the principles of Afrikan unity, self-determination, and economic justice, fully supports the decolonisation efforts underway in Burkina Faso under Captain Traoré’s leadership. We applaud his dedication to transforming institutions, nationalising strategic resources, and empowering the people of Burkina Faso.”
Masarira further acknowledged the solidarity shown by other African nations and praised the people for their resistance:
“We extend deep gratitude and revolutionary appreciation to the people and governments of Mali, Niger, Guinea, and all progressive West Afrikan nations who have risen in support of Traoré and the Burkinabè people, especially those who bravely took to the streets to protest French interference and neo-imperialist meddling in Afrikan affairs.”
Calling for a continental response, she urged unity and action among all Africans and global allies:
“As LEAD, we issue a clarion call to all Afrikan states, Pan-Afrikan movements, civil society organisations, and the Afrikan diaspora: Let us unite and join this wave of resistance and revolution. The time is now to assert our collective sovereignty, protect our natural wealth, and liberate our people from systemic underdevelopment orchestrated by foreign interests.”
Concluding her statement, Masarira paid tribute to Traoré’s leadership:
“Burkina Faso is leading a historic charge. Captain Ibrahim Traoré is not just a national leader. He is Afrika’s current golden son of liberation. We must support, defend, and replicate the model he is building, grounded in courage, independence, and Afrikan pride.”
The future of Afrika is Afrikan. The struggle continues — Aluta Continua!
