Libya confirmed that the demarcation of its border with Tunisia was resolved more than ten years ago and remains a settled matter, according to a statement released by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.
The ministry underscored that the border issue is no longer subject to discussion or review, citing the longstanding historical and brotherly ties between the Libyan and Tunisian people. The statement highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two nations, aimed at fostering stability and mutual prosperity.
It praised the cooperation between Libya and Tunisia, particularly in enhancing security, promoting trade and investment, and improving travel conditions for citizens of both countries.
The reaffirmation followed remarks by Tunisian Defence Minister Khaled Sehili, who stressed that Tunisia would not cede an inch of its national territory. Sehili noted that the border demarcation is under the purview of a joint committee representing both nations.
Libya’s statement emphasised that the historical ties and mutual interests between the two countries remain a cornerstone of their relationship, enabling collaborative efforts to address shared challenges.
