Manchester United have completed the signing of Danish defender Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for a reported £25 million ($37 million), making him the first signing under new manager Ruben Amorim.
The 20-year-old left-back has been a standout performer in Serie A over the past two seasons, scoring five goals in 53 appearances. He has also earned four caps for the Danish national team.
Dorgu expressed his excitement about joining United, calling it a dream move:
Dorgu’s arrival should fill a gap on United’s left flank, an area where they have lacked depth. The club’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, believes he will fit perfectly into Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

“Patrick is a really exciting talent. His strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability, and work rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad,” said Wilcox.
United’s transfer business has been limited by profit and sustainability rules, but the club is looking to raise funds before the window closes on Monday.
Reports suggest that Marcus Rashford is close to a loan move to Aston Villa, which would free up a significant portion of his £300,000-a-week wages. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move to Napoli, but a deal before the deadline appears unlikely.
