Meta has secured a ruling barring former employee Sarah Wynn-Williams from promoting her tell-all memoir, Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed and Lost Idealism, which includes damaging allegations about the tech giant.
The book, released Tuesday, details Wynn-Williams’ experiences at Meta (formerly Facebook) from 2011 to 2017, including accusations of sexual harassment against longtime executive Joel Kaplan and claims that the company considered appeasing Chinese censors to access the country’s market.

Meta argues that Wynn-Williams violated a non-disparagement agreement and took the matter to arbitration, where a ruling temporarily prevents her from making public comments about the company or its executives.
Meta’s communications director Andy Stone dismissed the book as “false and defamatory,” claiming Wynn-Williams was fired for poor performance.
However, her publisher, Macmillan, has vowed to continue supporting and distributing the book despite Meta’s legal challenge.
