Naira Records Two Consecutive Appreciations Against Dollar

Naira Depreciates Despite Surge in External Reserves

The Naira appreciated twice against the Dollar in the foreign exchange market this week.

According to FMDQ data, the Nigerian currency rose further to N1601 per Dollar on Tuesday from N1607.15 the previous day.

This shows a gain of N6.15 against the Dollar on Tuesday compared to the N1607.15 traded on Monday.

Similarly, the Naira strengthened in the parallel market, reaching N1607 per Dollar on Tuesday from N1610.

The Nigerian currency had seen a significant increase on Monday.

The back-to-back increase of the Nigerian currency occurred despite ongoing hunger protests that began last Thursday and continued into Tuesday, the sixth day.
