The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has successfully coordinated the return of Adeola, the 41-year-old daughter of veteran Yoruba actress Jumoke George, who had been missing for four years and was recently located in Mali.

Adeola was found stranded in the West African country without valid travel documents, making her return to Nigeria impossible without official intervention. Her case gained public attention after her mother, Jumoke George, emotionally recounted her disappearance during an appearance on the popular talk show Talk to B, hosted by actress Biola Adebayo.

According to the Nollywood actress, Adeola had been staying with her grandmother in Ibadan before telling family members she was travelling to Lagos. That was the last time anyone saw or heard from her until recently.

Moved by the actress’s plea, Biola Adebayo took swift action, successfully making contact with Adeola and confirming she was in Mali. Adebayo then alerted the Nigerian Embassy in Mali and worked closely with NiDCOM, led by its Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, to ensure Adeola’s safe repatriation.

In a statement released on Monday, NiDCOM reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of Nigerians abroad, especially those facing distress, exploitation, or abandonment.

While specific details about the circumstances under which Adeola was found remain undisclosed, the commission confirmed that she would receive full support, including psychosocial counselling and reintegration services, as she begins the journey toward recovery.

Currently undergoing medical treatment in Lagos, a visibly emotional Jumoke George expressed profound gratitude to NiDCOM, Biola Adebayo, and all those who played a role in reuniting her with her daughter. She described the news of Adeola’s return as a moment of overwhelming relief and joy..
