The Niger State Government in north-central Nigeria has welcomed representatives from the Tukur and Tukur Foundation during a condolence visit following the recent devastating floods in Mokwa.
The foundation, established by former Chief of Army Staff General Tukur Buratai (Rtd), has launched a medical outreach programme aimed at supporting flood-affected communities across Nigeria.
At the visit, Dr Abdullahi Imam, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Health, expressed the government’s gratitude for the foundation’s dedication to assisting recovery efforts.
“The timely intervention of the Foundation during this difficult period is deeply appreciated,” Dr Imam said, emphasising the crucial role of prompt health services in disaster recovery.
Both the Niger State Government and the Tukur and Tukur Foundation pledged to collaborate closely to restore health and wellbeing in the flood-affected community of Mokwa.

Foundation officials were warmly received by the state authorities, who acknowledged the importance of their support in addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of displaced and affected residents.
Following discussions in Minna, the foundation’s team proceeded to Mokwa to begin immediate medical assistance, prioritising healthcare for those impacted by the floods.
According to Nana Fateema Mohammed and Muhammad S. Abubakar, Information Officers with the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Healthcare, the community has responded with heartfelt thanks.
“Niger State residents deeply appreciate the compassion and practical support from the Tukur and Tukur Foundation as they come together to rebuild and recover,” they said in a joint statement.
Dr Imam reiterated this gratitude, stating, “We sincerely thank the foundation for their compassion and actionable support.”
This outreach forms part of the foundation’s broader commitment to providing humanitarian and healthcare aid to vulnerable groups across Nigeria, especially during times of crisis.
