The Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos has deactivated four illegal refining sites at Obodo in Omadinho community, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, followed credible intelligence, according to FOB Escravos Commanding Officer, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu.
“The sites were laden with about 2,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,200 litres of illegally refined AGO contained in five ovens, 11 dug-out pits, and 25 polythene sacks,” Okoloagu revealed.

He warned those involved in oil theft and economic sabotage to desist, as the base remains committed to dismantling illegal operations and ensuring the prosecution of offenders.
“The Nigerian Navy’s fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other acts of economic sabotage bore fruit once again on 26 February 2025,” he said.
The crackdown was part of Operation Delta Sanity II, a mission to curb illegal activities in Nigeria’s maritime environment.
Okoloagu reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to executing the Strategic Directives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, aimed at safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime resources.
