Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, working under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have neutralised a suspected bandit during an operation in Kwesati community, Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State. The soldiers also recovered an AK-47 rifle at the scene.

This success comes as part of a wider clearance operation designed to rid Taraba State of bandits, terrorists, and other criminal groups threatening the peace of the area.

In a statement, the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Captain Olubodunde Oni, explained that the operation was made possible thanks to credible intelligence on the movement of the suspects.

” Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected bandits, troops stationed at Kwesati swiftly deployed and tactically established a position along a suspected crossing route ”

“During the operation, the troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with superior firepower. The intensity of the engagement forced the bandits to flee in disarray, with several suspected to have escaped into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds. One bandit was neutralised during the encounter.”

The statement said, following the operation, troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one motorcycle, and two mobile phones.

Speaking on the success of the operation, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, praised the troops for their bravery and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s determination to maintain relentless operations until all threats to peace and security in the state are completely eliminated.

Brigadier General Uwa also urged the public to continue sharing timely and credible information with security agencies, stressing that such cooperation is vital to ongoing efforts to rid Taraba State of criminal elements.

The statement further described the operation as a clear demonstration of the resilience and commitment of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke in safeguarding communities across the state.
