The Federal Government of Nigeria has donated N30 million to the family of the esteemed National Flag designer, the late Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi. This comes two years after the passing of the former civil servant.
The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, alongside the Oyo State Director of the agency, Olukemi Afolayan, formally presented the cheque on behalf of the Federal Government at the late national hero’s residence in Elebu, Ibadan, on Thursday.

Pa Akinkunmi passed away on August 29, 2023, at the age of 87.
On 4th September 2023, President Bola Tinubu dispatched a government delegation, led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Malagi, on a condolence visit, during which the administration pledged to accord the late Nigerian hero a national burial and provide financial assistance to his family.
Speaking at the presentation, the NOA Director-General stated: “The donation of N30 million to the family of the renowned National Flag designer is not a payment for the services of the late legend but rather a token of support, acknowledging his immense contributions to the nation.”
One of the deceased’s sons, Akinwunmi Akinkunmi, expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu for the generous gesture.
