Farook Oreagba, the managing director and CEO of NG Clearing, shared insights into his unique personal style and unexpected journey as a fashion influencer during a recent appearance on News Central’s Jasiri.
Oreagba, known for his distinctive combination of traditional and modern attire, expressed surprise at the impact his dressing has had, particularly within Nigeria’s vibrant cultural scene.
“I’ve always been sort of unique in my dressing. By that, I mean I don’t conform to what is classed as the norm,” Oreagba stated.
He recounted that his initial realisation of his influence came about 10-12 years ago when he began pairing traditional Nigerian fabric trousers, specifically Ankara, with casual t-shirts. This unconventional combination originated from a desire to repurpose material from outfits worn to weddings and funerals, initially as comfortable loungewear.

Oreagba highlighted his unexpected popularity at last year’s Ojude Oba festival, a major cultural event. “I never thought I would trend at Ojude Oba last year, like I mentioned. This year, there was pressure. I hope I delivered,” he remarked, acknowledging the increased scrutiny and expectations.
He also credited Nigerian designers for their support, noting that many use him as a “barometer” for their creations. While he sometimes has to decline designs, he often finds occasions to wear unique pieces, as demonstrated by his outfit for the “Jasiri” interview.
Embracing his role as an inspiration, Oreagba expressed deep satisfaction. “Listen, I embrace it. I am blessed to be the person who inspires other generations and other people. That’s really what I want to do. That’s very important to me because in my life, a lot of people have been through, or are going through, a lot of things, and if I can inspire one or two people, that’s a bonus,” he shared.
He also touched upon the challenge of balancing this public persona with his demanding career in financial services, acknowledging the inherent difficulties of the industry.
