As by-elections kick off in 26 states across Nigeria, election materials are being delivered to various polling units. Ad hoc staff of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) have reached polling unit 045 Kakuri Hausa of Makera constituency, Kaduna, in preparation for today’s rerun election in five polling units within the constituency.
INEC officials arrived as early as 7 am, with voting expected to commence by 8:30 am. The affected polling units for the election include Kakuri Hausa, Television Ward, Kakuri Gwari, and 09 and 05 Barnawa.
In a similar vein, the by-election in Guma One state constituency in Benue is currently underway and has remained peaceful so far. There are reports that elections in Ethiope West of Delta state have started.
The electoral body will conduct the elections in the following states: Lagos, Oyo, Benue, Ebonyi, Yobe, Kebbi, Ondo, Taraba, Borno, Kaduna, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River, Delta, Enugu, Katsina, Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Kano, Nasarawa, Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Jigawa.
