The Abia State Police Command announced the dissolution of its Anti-Cultism Unit due to unprofessional behaviour.
The command’s public relations officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday.
A corporal’s promotion to constable was also announced by Chinaka.
According to the statement, “The Anti-Cultism Unit of the Abia State Command was disbanded due to unprofessional behaviour and rudeness towards members of the public by Commissioner of Police CP Danladi Isa, by the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) vision to create a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law-compliant, and people-friendly police force.
“F/No: 527324 Corporal Okonkwo Ebuka, assigned to Area Command, Aba, but on special duty at Isuochi, was also demoted from Corporal to Constable.
“This decision came after an administrative action concluded in which he was found guilty of embarrassing and unprofessional behaviour as well as rudeness towards members of the public in an orderly room.”
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police further highlighted the command’s zero-tolerance policy for any officer behaviour that could damage the Force’s reputation.
“Any unprofessional behaviour by officers should be reported by members of the public to the Complaint Response Unit Abia Command by calling 09031593827,” the statement added.
