Two women, Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu, were detained by Ogun State police for running a baby factory. The facility at No. 4 on Ibrahim Famuyiwa Street, Agbado in the Ifo LGA, was raided by the police.
This information was revealed in a statement made accessible to journalists on Monday by the state’s police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended after police at the Agbado Division received information that the first suspect was running a baby factory where she housed girls and recruited men to impregnate them.
He clarified that after giving birth, the woman would seize ownership of the children and sell them to her eager customers for N400,000 each.
Oyeyemi said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that Margaret Ogwu was one the girls harboured by Christiana D’ivoire who employed the services of a man to impregnate her and collected the child on delivery, which she sold at the rate of N400,000 to one of her customers.”
The police spokesman further said Christiana D’ivoire confessed that “she has sold up to three children from different women to her customers.”
It is pertinent to mention that Ogun State, over the years, is notorious for habouring baby factories where children are birthed and sold. Two years ago, a Pregnant Lady revealed how she escaped from a ‘baby factory’ where the owner imprisoned young women and ran an illegal business at the facility.
The ‘baby-making’ home was located at the Imedu Olori area of Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
