    President Tinubu Departs Addis Ababa After AU Summit

    President Bola Tinubu has departed Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, venue of the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Africa Union.

    The President and Chair of the West African bloc, ECOWAS, departed the Horn of Africa on Monday morning about 10 a.m.

    While in Ethiopia, the President actively participated in the Executive Council’s 44th Ordinary Session, held bilateral meetings, and attended other activities related to the AU summit.

    Minister Dismisses Calls for Resignation of President Tinubu as Distraction

    The President landed in Ethiopia on Thursday night about 10 p.m., escorted by some ministers and other high government officials.

    Tinubu attended high-level talks with other African leaders to discuss African Union institutional reforms, peace and security, specific thematic issues including as climate change, and the continental body’s involvement and priorities in the G20.

    The theme of the year’s summit is ‘‘Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.’’
